Syracuse LED street light conversion to be celebrated

Syracuse, N.Y. — The City of Syracuse and New York Power Authority will celebrate Thursday, Sept. 24, a major milestone for statewide "smart light" transformation.
The conversion is saving Syracuse money, according to Mayor Ben Walsh's office.
The mayor and NYPA will gather at 7:30 p.m. in Clinton Square to commemorate the conversion of 100,000 city street lights to energy-efficient LED lights.
The project is a major step forward for the city's strategy for inclusive growth in the new economy., according to the mayor's office.
The conversion project began in the summer of 2019.
